Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
राजतेषु च कुम्भेषु जाम्बूनदमयेषु च ।
पान श्रेष्ठम् तदा भूरि कपिः तत्र ददर्श ह ॥ ॥५-११-२३॥
rājateṣu ca kumbheṣu jāmbūnadamayeṣu ca । pāna śreṣṭham tadā bhūri kapiḥ tatra dadarśa ha ॥ ॥5-11-23॥
Translation
The Monkey (Hanuman) then saw excellent drink in abundance there, in silver jars and golden jars.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कपि (हनुमान) ने वहाँ चांदी (राजत) और सोने (जाम्बूनद) के बड़े घड़ों (कुम्भ) में प्रचुर मात्रा में उत्तम कोटि का पेय (मदिरा) देखा।
English Commentary
Hanuman observes the storage vessels (kumbhesuh). The distinction is made between serving vessels (previous verse) and these larger storage jars made of silver (rajata) and gold. The descriptor bhuri (abundant/plenty) indicates that the supply was inexhaustible. The focus remains on the materiality of the containers, emphasizing that even storage items were made of precious metals.

पिछले श्लोक में पीने के पात्र (glass/goblet) थे, यहाँ भंडारण के पात्रों (jars/pitchers) का वर्णन है। शराब को चांदी और सोने के बड़े 'कुम्भों' में रखा गया था। 'पान श्रेष्ठम्' का अर्थ है उच्च गुणवत्ता वाली शराब। हनुमान जी के लिए यह दृश्य आश्चर्यजनक है क्योंकि वानर वनवासी हैं, और यहाँ धातुओं के पात्रों में पेय का इतना विशाल संग्रह देखना उनके लिए लंका की सभ्यता और वैभव का प्रमाण है।
