चन्दनस्य च शीतस्य शीधोर् मधु रसस्य च ।
विविधस्य च माल्यस्य पुष्पस्य विविधस्य च ॥ ॥५-११-३१॥
candanasya ca śītasya śīdhor madhu rasasya ca । vividhasya ca mālyasya puṣpasya vividhasya ca ॥ ॥5-11-31॥
Translation
(There was the fragrance of) cooling sandalwood, Shidhu wine, sweet nectar (honey), various garlands, and various flowers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(वहाँ) शीतल चंदन, शीधु (मदिरा), मधुरस, विविध प्रकार की मालाओं और अनेक प्रकार के पुष्पों की (सुगंध फैली थी)।
English Commentary
These verses build the olfactory landscape of the Pushpaka Vimana. The list includes cooling elements like sandalwood (chandana) and intoxicating ones like wine (shidhu) and honey (madhu). The sensory overload is deliberate; it represents the suffocating luxury of Ravana’s court. For an ascetic like Hanuman, this thick, heavy, perfumed air stands in stark contrast to the fresh, open air of the forest.

यह श्लोक और अगला श्लोक (32) एक ही वाक्य का भाग हैं। यहाँ उन तत्वों की सूची है जो उस वातावरण को सुगंधित बना रहे थे। चंदन शीतलता प्रदान करता है, शीधु और मधुरस मादकता लाते हैं, और पुष्प ताजगी देते हैं। यह 'गंध' का साम्राज्य है। हनुमान जी, जो वायुपुत्र हैं और गंध को पहचानने में निपुण हैं, इस मिश्रित सुगंध (cocktail of scents) का अनुभव कर रहे हैं।
