Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न शक्यम् प्रमदा नष्टा मृगीषु परिमार्गितुम् ।
तद् इदम् मार्गितम् तावत् शुद्धेन मनसा मया ॥ ॥५-११-४४॥
Na śakyam pramadā naṣṭā mṛgīṣu parimārgitum |
Tad idam mārgitam tāvat śuddhena manasā mayā ॥5-11-44॥
Translation
A lost woman cannot be searched for among female deer. Therefore, this search has been conducted by me with a pure and unblemished mind.
हिंदी अनुवाद
खोयी हुई स्त्री को हिरणियों के बीच नहीं खोजा जा सकता। इसलिए मैंने शुद्ध मन से यह (अंतःपुर का) अन्वेषण किया है।
English Commentary
Hanuman concludes his internal ethical debate with a final analogy and reaffirmation. The absurdity of searching for a woman among deer (mṛgīṣu) reinforces the logic of searching within the harem. The phrase Śuddhena manasā (with a pure mind) is the chaotic refrain of this entire section. It is a categorical statement of his integrity. In the context of Smriti literature, maintaining purity while performing duties that require contact with impurity is a sign of a superior yogi. Hanuman has now fully reconciled the necessity of his action with the dictates of Dharma, allowing him to move past the guilt of intrusion and focus on the result of the search—which, unfortunately, brings him to the realization of the next verse.

पूर्व श्लोक के तर्क को आगे बढ़ाते हुए हनुमान जी कहते हैं कि मानवी सीता को पशु-पक्षियों या मृगों के बीच ढूँढना व्यर्थ होता। यह उपमा उनकी खोज की दिशा को सही ठहराती है। श्लोक का दूसरा भाग 'शुद्धेन मनसा मया' अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। हनुमान जी बार-बार अपनी 'मानसिक शुद्धि' पर जोर दे रहे हैं। यह दोहराव इंगित करता है कि एक आर्य और संभ्रांत व्यक्ति के लिए पर-स्त्री दर्शन कितना गंभीर विषय है। वे अपनी अन्तरात्मा को साक्षी मानकर कहते हैं कि यद्यपि स्थान और circumstance संदेहास्पद हो सकती है, किन्तु मेरा अंतःकरण गंगाजल की भाँति पवित्र है। यह श्लोक कर्म की पवित्रता के साथ-साथ कर्ता की नीयत (Intention) की प्रधानता को रेखांकित करता है।
