अवतीर्य विमानाच् च हनूमान् मारुत आत्मजः ।
चिन्ताम् उपजगाम अथ शोक उपहत चेतनः ॥ ॥५-१२-२५॥
Avatīrya vimānāc ca hanūmān māruta ātmajaḥ । Cintām upajagāma atha śoka upahata cetanaḥ ॥ ॥5-12-25॥
Translation
Descending from the aerial car (Pushpaka), Hanuman, son of the wind, then fell into thought, his consciousness struck by grief.

उस विमान (पुष्पक) से नीचे उतरकर, मारुति नन्दन हनुमान, जिनका चित्त शोक से आहत हो गया था, चिंतामग्न हो गए।
English Commentary
Physical movement mirrors emotional descent. Hanuman climbs down (avatīrya) from the Pushpaka Vimana, signifying the end of his search in the high towers and the aerial chariot. As he touches the ground, he is described as śoka upahata cetanaḥ—one whose consciousness/mind is struck down by grief. This suggests a temporary paralysis of his intellect due to overwhelming sadness. The vibrant, lightning-fast hero is now paused, weighed down by the reality that Sita is nowhere to be found in the most likely places. It is a moment of absolute vulnerability before he regroups.

अब हनुमान जी पुष्पक विमान से उतर आते हैं, जो उनकी खोज का एक प्रमुख केंद्र था। 'शोक उपहत चेतनः'—यह वाक्यांश अत्यंत गंभीर है। इसका अर्थ है कि शोक ने उनकी चेतना या विवेक पर प्रहार किया है। जब मन शोक से आच्छन्न हो जाता है, तो सोचने की शक्ति क्षीण हो जाती है। ऊँचाई (विमान) से उतरना उनके उत्साह के नीचे आने का भी प्रतीक है। वे शारीरिक रूप से धरातल पर आए और मानसिक रूप से चिंता के गर्त में। यह सर्ग का समापन एक निराशाजनक नोट पर होता है, जो अगले सर्ग में नई दिशा की भूमिका तैयार करता है।
