तया मन्ये विशालाक्ष्या त्यक्तं जीवितमार्यया ।
उपर्युपरि वा नूनं सागरं क्रमतस्तदा ॥ ॥५-१३-१०॥
Tayā manye viśālālkṣyā tyaktaṃ jīvitam āryayā । Uparyupari vā nūnaṃ sāgaraṃ kramatas tadā ॥ ॥5-13-10॥
Translation
I think that the large-eyed noble lady must have given up her life while crossing over the ocean.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं मानता हूँ कि उस विशाल नेत्रों वाली आर्या ने, सागर के ऊपर से गुजरते समय, निश्चय ही अपने प्राण त्याग दिए होंगे।
English Commentary
Continuing the grim train of thought, Hanuman focuses on Sita’s fragility, referring to her as vishalakshi (large-eyed), an epithet denoting beauty and sensitivity. He surmises that while crossing uparyupari (high above) the ocean, the shock was too great, and she simply gave up her ghost. The use of nunam (certainly/surely) indicates that Hanuman is moving from mere speculation to a convinced state of pessimism, resigning himself to the likelihood of her demise before even reaching Lanka.

पूर्व श्लोक के विचार को ही आगे बढ़ाते हुए हनुमान जी सोचते हैं कि 'विशालाक्ष्या' (विशाल नेत्रों वाली) सीता, जो स्वभाव से कोमल हैं, आकाश मार्ग की भीषणता को सहन न कर सकी होंगी। 'त्यक्तं जीवितम्' (जीवन त्याग दिया) से तात्पर्य है कि शायद भय या शोक की अधिकता के कारण उनकी मृत्यु मार्ग में ही हो गई। 'नूनं' (निश्चय ही) शब्द का प्रयोग हनुमान जी की बढ़ती हुई निराशा और नकारात्मक निश्चय को दर्शाता है। वे अब सीता के जीवित होने की संभावनाओं को क्षीण होते देख रहे हैं।
