अदुष्टा दुष्टभावाभिर् भक्षिता सा भविष्यति ।
सम्पूर्णचन्द्रप्रतिमं पद्मपत्रनिभेक्षणम् ॥ ॥५-१३-१३॥
Aduṣṭā duṣṭa-bhāvābhir bhakṣitā sā bhaviṣyati । Sampūrṇa-candra-pratimaṃ padma-patra-nibha-īkṣaṇam ॥ ॥5-13-13॥
Translation
The innocent one might have been eaten by those of evil nature? Her face resembling the full moon, and eyes like lotus petals.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह निर्दोष (अदुष्टा) उन दुष्ट स्वभाव वाली स्त्रियों द्वारा खा ली गयी होगी? उसका मुख पूर्ण चन्द्रमा के समान और नेत्र कमल की पंखुड़ियों के समान थे।
English Commentary
This verse juxtaposes delicate beauty with savage cruelty. Hanuman recalls Sita’s face as sampurna-chandra-pratimam (image of the full moon) and eyes like lotus petals, only to contrast this image with the horrific thought of her being eaten by those of dushta-bhava (evil nature). The tragedy is heightened by the word adushta (flawless/innocent). It emphasizes the destruction of the beautiful and pure by the grotesque and evil. This reflection on her beauty serves to deepen the tragedy of her imagined death.

यह श्लोक 'विरोधाभास अलंकार' का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है। एक ओर सीता जी का सौंदर्य—'पूर्णचन्द्र' जैसा मुख और 'पद्मपत्र' (कमल की पंखुड़ी) जैसे नेत्र, और दूसरी ओर उनकी परिणति—'भक्षिता' (खा ली जाना)। 'अदुष्टा' (पाप रहित) और 'दुष्टभावाभिर्' (दुष्ट विचार वालों द्वारा) के बीच का संघर्ष यहाँ चित्रित है। हनुमान जी सीता जी के रूप का स्मरण करते हुए विषाद कर रहे हैं कि ऐसे दिव्य सौंदर्य और पवित्रता का अंत इतना क्रूर कैसे हो सकता है। यह विचार उनके हृदय को विदीर्ण कर रहा है।
