सीतानिमित्तं दुर्वाक्यं श्रुत्वा स न भविष्यति ।
तं तु कृच्छ्रगतं दृष्ट्वा पञ्चत्वगतमानसम् ॥ ॥५-१३-२५॥
Sītā-nimittaṃ durvākyaṃ śrutvā sa na bhaviṣyati । Taṃ tu kṛcchra-gataṃ dṛṣṭvā pañcatva-gata-mānasam ॥ ॥5-13-25॥
Translation
"Hearing that bad news regarding Sita, he (Rama) will not survive. And seeing him in such distress, with his mind set on death..."

"सीता के विषय में वह दुर्वचन (बुरी खबर) सुनकर वे (राम) जीवित नहीं रहेंगे। और उन (राम) को कष्ट में पड़ा हुआ और मरने के लिए तैयार (मृत्यु को प्राप्त मन वाला) देखकर..."
English Commentary
The domino effect begins. Hanuman is certain (sa na bhaviṣyati - he will cease to be) that Rama cannot survive the confirmation of Sita's loss. The phrase panchatva-gata-manasam describes a state where the mind has already accepted death, even before the body follows. Hanuman foresees the absolute despair that will engulf Rama, acting as the trigger for the subsequent tragedies described in the following verses.

यहाँ से 'विनाश की श्रृंखला' (Chain reaction of destruction) आरम्भ होती है। हनुमान जी का तर्क है कि राम का जीवन सीता पर आधारित है। 'न भविष्यति' (वह नहीं रहेंगे/होंगे) का प्रयोग अत्यंत निश्चयात्मक है। 'पञ्चत्वगतमानसम्' का अर्थ है जिसका मन मृत्यु की ओर चला गया हो। हनुमान जी देख रहे हैं कि राम के प्राण त्यागते ही शेष क्या बचेगा। यह एक भक्त का अपने आराध्य के प्रति गहरा मनोवैज्ञानिक विश्लेषण है।
