भूयिष्ठम् लोडिता लन्का रामस्य चरता प्रियम् ।
न हि पश्यामि वैदेहीम् सीताम् सर्व अन्ग शोभनाम् ॥ ॥५-१३-३॥
Bhūyiṣṭham loḍitā lankā rāmasya caratā priyam । Na hi paśyāmi vaidehīm sītām sarva anga śobhanām ॥ ॥5-13-3॥
Translation
Lanka has been searched/churned extensively by me doing what is dear to Rama. I do not see Vaidehi Sita, beautiful in all limbs.

राम का प्रिय कार्य करते हुए मैंने लंका को अत्यधिक मथ डाला (छान मारा), परन्तु मैं सर्वांगसुन्दरी वैदेही सीता को नहीं देख पा रहा हूँ।
English Commentary
Hanuman begins his reflection by assessing his effort. He uses the word loḍitā, implying that he has "churned" or turned Lanka upside down in his search; it wasn't a passive look but an active upheaval. He grounds his motivation in rāmasya priyam (doing what is dear to Rama). The tragedy is summed up in the second line: despite this massive effort, the Vaidehī (princess of Videha), who is sarva anga śobhanām (beautiful in every limb/part), remains unseen. This contrast between the thoroughness of the "churning" and the absence of the "gem" (Sita) parallels the churning of the ocean, but here, the nectar has not yet emerged.

हनुमान जी अपने कथन में 'लोडिता' शब्द का प्रयोग करते हैं, जिसका अर्थ है 'मथना' या 'उलट-पुलट करना'। उन्होंने लंका को केवल देखा नहीं, बल्कि मथ डाला है। वे यह कार्य अपने लिए नहीं, बल्कि 'रामस्य प्रियम्' (राम के प्रिय) के लिए कर रहे हैं, जो उनकी भक्ति को दर्शाता है। 'सर्व अन्ग शोभनाम्' (सभी अंगों से सुंदर) सीता का न मिलना उनके लिए एक पहेली बन गया है। वे स्वीकार करते हैं कि उनका मानवीय (या वानर) प्रयास अपनी सीमा तक पहुँच चुका है, फिर भी लक्ष्य अलभ्य है। यहाँ से उनकी चिंता और तर्क का नया अध्याय शुरू होता है।
