कामम् अस्तु हृता सीता प्रत्याचीर्णम् भविष्यति ।
अथवा एनम् समुत्क्षिप्य उपरि उपरि सागरम् ॥५-१३-५०॥
kāmam astu hṛtā sītā pratyācīrṇam bhaviṣyati |
athavā enam samutkṣipya upari upari sāgaram ॥5-13-50॥
Translation
Granted that Sita has been stolen (and remains lost), this (killing Ravana) will be the retribution. Or else, lifting him (Ravana) up, I shall carry him across the ocean, high above the water.
हिंदी अनुवाद
भले ही सीता का हरण हो गया हो (और वे न मिलें), किन्तु (रावण को मारने से) प्रतिशोध (बदला) पूरा हो जायेगा। अथवा मैं इस (रावण) को ऊपर ही ऊपर उठाकर समुद्र के पार ले जाऊँगा।
English Commentary
Hanuman continues to strategize. He bargains with fate: even if the primary mission (retrieving Sita) fails, the secondary objective (punishing the perpetrator) can still be achieved. "Pratyācīrṇam" implies revenge or counter-action. He considers kidnapping Ravana himself, carrying him across the ocean "upari upari" (high above the surface). This imagery is striking—the abductor becoming the abducted. It showcases Hanuman's immense strength and his return to a proactive mindset. Instead of dying in a corner of Lanka, he envisions dragging the mighty Demon King across the sea to face Rama's judgment. This thought process re-empowers him, moving him further away from the suicidal ideation of the earlier verses.

हनुमान जी अब प्रतिशोध की योजना बना रहे हैं। 'कामम् अस्तु हृता सीता' का अर्थ है - 'माना कि सीता अपहृत हैं (और मुझे नहीं मिल रही हैं)', तो भी रावण को मारने से राम के अपमान का बदला तो पूरा होगा। दूसरा विकल्प जो वे सोचते हैं, वह और भी अद्भुत है: वे रावण का अपहरण करके उसे राम के पास ले जाने की बात सोचते हैं। 'उपरि उपरि सागरम्' (समुद्र के ऊपर-ऊपर) रावण को ले जाना उनकी असीम शारीरिक शक्ति और आत्मविश्वास का परिचायक है। वे सोचते हैं कि यदि मैं सीता को नहीं ला सका, तो चोर (रावण) को ही पकड़ कर ले जाऊँगा। यह विचार उनके मन को उस निष्क्रियता से बाहर निकालता है जिसने उन्हें घेरा हुआ था।
