ध्यान शोका परीत आत्मा चिन्तयाम् आस वानरः ।
यावत् सीताम् न पश्यामि राम पत्नीम् यशस्विनीम् ॥५-१३-५२॥
dhyāna śokā parīta ātmā cintayām āsa vānaraḥ |
yāvat sītām na paśyāmi rāma patnīm yaśasvinīm ॥5-13-52॥
Translation
Enveloped in thought and grief, that Vanara (Hanuman) reflected: "As long as I do not see the illustrious Sita, the wife of Rama..."

ध्यान और शोक से घिरे हुए उस वानर (हनुमान) ने विचार किया—"जब तक मैं राम की पत्नी, यशस्विनी सीता को देख नहीं लेता..."
English Commentary
This verse captures the exact moment Hanuman transitions from despair to determination. He is described as dhyāna śokā parīta ātmā—his soul enveloped by both meditation and grief. However, instead of drowning in this grief, he uses it to fuel a vow. The phrase "As long as I do not see..." sets an open-ended commitment. He removes any time limits or conditions from his mission; the only endpoint is success. By referring to Sita as yaśasvinīm (illustrious), he reinforces the nobility of the mission. It is a psychological pivot where the burden of grief transforms into the weight of responsibility, grounding him in the present moment of action.

यहाँ हनुमान जी की मानसिक स्थिति का वर्णन है। वे 'ध्यान' (गहन विचार) और 'शोक' (विषाद) दोनों से घिरे हुए हैं ('परीत आत्मा')। यह एक महत्वपूर्ण संधि है जहाँ शोक निष्क्रियता की ओर नहीं, बल्कि संकल्प की ओर ले जा रहा है। 'यावत् सीताम् न पश्यामि' (जब तक सीता को नहीं देखता) का संकल्प यह दर्शाता है कि उन्होंने अब समय-सीमा या प्रयासों की सीमा को त्याग दिया है। अब शर्त केवल एक है—परिणाम। चाहे कितना भी समय लगे, वे रुकेंगे नहीं। सीता जी के लिए 'यशस्विनीम्' विशेषण का प्रयोग कर वे स्वयं को याद दिलाते हैं कि जिसकी खोज वे कर रहे हैं, वह कोई साधारण स्त्री नहीं, अपितु कीर्ति की साक्षात् मूर्ति हैं, अतः संघर्ष भी असाधारण होगा।
