Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तेभ्यः तु नमः कृत्वा सुग्रीवाय च मारुतिः ।
दिशः सर्वाः समालोक्य अशोक वनिकाम् प्रति ॥५-१३-६०॥
sa tebhyaḥ tu namaḥ kṛtvā sugrīvāya ca mārutiḥ |
diśaḥ sarvāḥ samālokya aśoka vanikām prati ॥5-13-60॥
Translation
Having bowed to them and also to Sugriva, Maruti (Hanuman) looked in all directions and then towards the Ashoka grove.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन सभी (देवताओं) को और सुग्रीव को भी प्रणाम करके, मारुति (हनुमान) ने सभी दिशाओं को देखा और फिर अशोक वाटिका की ओर (दृष्टि जमाई)।
English Commentary
Hanuman’s protocol is flawless. After the gods, he bows to Sugriva, his King. This acknowledges the chain of command; despite his supernatural powers, he operates as a loyal soldier of the Vanara king. Scanning all directions (diśaḥ sarvāḥ samālokya) illustrates his situational awareness—he is checking for guards, spies, or traps. Finally, his gaze locks onto the target: the Ashoka Vatika. This funneling of attention—from the cosmic (gods) to the political (Sugriva) to the immediate environment (directions) and finally to the objective (the grove)—shows a mind narrowing down to a singular point of action.

देवताओं को नमन करने के बाद हनुमान जी अपने राजा 'सुग्रीव' को नहीं भूलते। सुग्रीव को प्रणाम करना उनके राजधर्म और स्वामी-भक्ति का परिचायक है, क्योंकि सुग्रीव की आज्ञा से ही वे यहाँ आए हैं। 'दिशः सर्वाः समालोक्य' (सभी दिशाओं को देखकर) का अर्थ है कि वे सतर्क हैं। वे सुनिश्चित कर रहे हैं कि कोई उन्हें देख तो नहीं रहा है, और वे अशोक वाटिका की भौगोलिक स्थिति का आकलन कर रहे हैं। अब उनका पूरा ध्यान ('फोकस') एकमात्र लक्ष्य 'अशोक वनिकाम् प्रति' (अशोक वाटिका की ओर) केन्द्रित है। यह एकाग्रता ही सफलता की कुंजी है।
