तथा लान्गूल हस्तैः च चरणाभ्याम् च मर्दिता ।
बभूव अशोक वनिका प्रभग्न वर पादपा ॥ ॥५-१४-१९॥
tathā lāngūla hastaiḥ ca caraṇābhyām ca marditā । babhūva aśoka vanikā prabhagna vara pādapā ॥ ॥5-14-19॥
Translation
Thus, trampled by his tail, hands, and feet, the Ashoka grove, with its excellent trees broken, became ruined.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस प्रकार अपनी पूंछ, हाथों और पैरों से रौंदी गयी वह अशोक वाटिका, जिसके श्रेष्ठ वृक्ष टूट गए थे, अत्यंत (शोभाहीन) हो गई।
English Commentary
This verse emphasizes the sheer physicality of Hanuman. The specific mention of lāngūla (tail), hastaiḥ (hands), and caraṇābhyām (feet) suggests a total engagement of his body in the act of movement. The grove is described as marditā (crushed or trampled), indicating that the delicate beauty of the Ashoka Vatika could not withstand the raw kinetic energy of the Vanara. For a scholar, this is a precursor to the intentional destruction of the Vatika that Hanuman will undertake later in the Sundara Kanda; here, it is incidental to his search, yet it foreshadows his capability for devastation.

इस श्लोक में हनुमान जी के 'विराट' और 'विध्वंसक' रूप का वर्णन है। कवि ने यहाँ शरीर के तीन अंगों का उल्लेख किया है—'लान्गूल' (पूंछ), 'हस्त' (हाथ) और 'चरण' (पैर)। यह दर्शाता है कि हनुमान का पूरा शरीर गतिमान था और अनजाने में ही विनाश का कारण बन रहा था। 'मर्दिता' (मसल दी गई) और 'प्रभग्न' (टूट गई) शब्द वाटिका की नाजुकता और हनुमान की कठोर शक्ति के बीच के द्वंद्व को स्पष्ट करते हैं। यह दृश्य उस शांत वाटिका में मची उथल-पुथल की पराकाष्ठा है। यह रावण के अहंकार (सुंदर वाटिका) पर हनुमान के प्रहार का प्रतीक भी माना जा सकता है।
