पक्षियों के कलरव से गूँजती हुई, चाँदी और सोने के वृक्षों से चारों ओर से घिरी हुई उस विचित्र वाटिका में उन्होंने प्रवेश किया।
English Commentary
Upon entering, the supernatural luxury of Ravana’s domain becomes apparent. The trees are not just botanical; they are described as made of silver and gold (rajataih kanchanaih). This reflects the excessive opulence of Lanka, where even nature is adorned or synthesized with precious metals. The garden is filled with the sound of birds, creating a sensory overload of visual sparkle and auditory beauty. This "wonderful" (vicitram) setting serves as an ironic backdrop for Sita's imprisonment—a golden cage intended to seduce or intimidate, contrasting sharply with the ascetic values Rama and Sita uphold.
