एवम् तु मत्वा हनुमान् महात्मा ।
प्रतीक्षमाणो मनुज इन्द्र पत्नीम्।
अवेक्षमाणः च ददर्श सर्वम् ।
सुपुष्पिते पर्ण घने निलीनः ॥ ॥५-१४-५२॥
evam tu matvā hanumān mahātmā |
pratīkṣamāṇo manuja indra patnīm|
avekṣamāṇaḥ ca dadarśa sarvam |
supuṣpite parṇa ghane nilīnaḥ ॥5-14-52॥
Translation
Thinking thus, the great-souled Hanuman, waiting for the wife of the King of men (Rama), observing everything, hid himself in (a tree) dense with beautiful flowers and leaves.

ऐसा विचार करके, महात्मा हनुमान, मानवों के इंद्र (राम) की पत्नी की प्रतीक्षा करते हुए, और सब कुछ देखते हुए, सुंदर फूलों और घने पत्तों वाले वृक्ष में छिप गए।
English Commentary
This verse concludes Sarga 14. Hanuman transitions from a mobile scout to a stationary observer. The phrase parṇa ghane nilīnaḥ (hidden/merged in dense foliage) indicates his tactical concealment. He is pratīkṣamāṇaḥ (waiting/expecting), showing patience. By hiding in a flowering tree, he secures a vantage point to verify Sita's identity without startling her or alerting guards. The descriptor Mahātmā (great soul) is fitting as he sublimates his immense power into quiet, disciplined waiting for the sake of his master's wife.

यह सर्ग 14 का अंतिम श्लोक है। हनुमान जी अब 'सक्रिय खोज' (active search) से 'प्रतीक्षा' (strategic ambush) की मुद्रा में आ गए हैं। 'पर्ण घने निलीनः' (घने पत्तों में छिपे हुए) उनकी रणनीति को दर्शाता है; वे सीता को पहले देखना चाहते हैं बिना स्वयं देखे जाए। वे 'महात्मा' हैं क्योंकि वे अपने लिए नहीं, राम (मनुज इन्द्र) के कार्य के लिए यह कष्ट साध्य प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं। यहाँ से कथा में एक ठहराव आता है जहाँ हनुमान जी दर्शक बन जाते हैं।
