Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अतिवृत्तम् इव अचिन्त्यम् दिव्यम् रम्यम् श्रिया वृतम् ।
द्वितीयम् इव च आकाशम् पुष्प ज्योतिर् गण आयुतम् ॥ ॥५-१५-१२॥
ativṛttam iva acintyam divyam ramyam śriyā vṛtam |
dvitīyam iva ca ākāśam puṣpa jyotir gaṇa āyutam ॥5-15-12॥
Translation
That grove was beyond thought (indescribable), divine, beautiful, and surrounded by glory. Filled with clusters of flowers acting as stars, it looked like a second sky.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह वन अचिन्त्य (कल्पना से परे), दिव्य, रमणीय और शोभा से घिरा हुआ था। फूलों रूपी नक्षत्रों (तारों) के समूह से युक्त वह दूसरे आकाश जैसा लग रहा था।
English Commentary
Hanuman elevates the description to the ineffable: acintyam (inconceivable/beyond thought). The metaphor shifts from terrestrial to celestial. He compares the grove to a dvitīyam ākāśam (second sky). In this poetic vision, the vibrant flowers are the jyotir gaṇa (hosts of stars/lights). This inversion—earth looking like the sky—emphasizes the transcendent, almost dreamlike quality of the Ashoka Vatika. It is a place where reality is suspended.
हिंदी टीका
हनुमान जी अब उपमाओं से आगे बढ़कर इसे 'अचिन्त्यम्' (जिसके बारे में सोचा भी न जा सके) कह रहे हैं। इसकी सुंदरता शब्दों से परे है। 'द्वितीयम् इव च आकाशम्' (दूसरे आकाश की तरह) एक बहुत ही सुंदर रूपक (metaphor) है। जैसे आकाश में तारे चमकते हैं, वैसे ही इस वन में फूल ('पुष्प ज्योतिर् गण') चमक रहे हैं। नीचे भी एक आकाश है। यह रावण की मायावी शक्ति और सौंदर्य बोध का चरम है।
