विमलम् प्राम्शु भावत्वाद् उल्लिखन्तम् इव अम्बरम् ।
ततो मलिन सम्वीताम् राक्षसीभिः समावृताम् ॥ ॥५-१५-१८॥
vimalam prāmśu bhāvatvād ullikhantam iva ambaram |
tato malina samvītām rākṣasībhiḥ samāvṛtām ॥5-15-18॥
Translation
Being spotless and tall, it seemed to scrape the sky. Then, (he saw a lady) wearing soiled garments and surrounded by demonesses.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह भवन निर्मल और अत्यधिक ऊँचा होने के कारण आकाश को स्पर्श करता हुआ (उल्लेख करता हुआ) सा लगता था। तदनन्तर, (हनुमान जी ने) मैले वस्त्र धारण किए हुए और राक्षसियों से घिरी हुई (एक स्त्री को देखा)।
English Commentary
The verse begins by finalizing the description of the tower, saying it is so prāmśu (tall) it seems to ullikhantam (scrape/scratch) the sky. Suddenly, the focus snaps from the architectural marvel to a human tragedy. The word tataḥ (then) marks the pivotal moment of discovery. He sees someone malina samvītām (wrapped in soiled/dirty cloth). The contrast is stark: the building is vimalam (spotless), but the queen is in rags, guarded by monsters.
हिंदी टीका
पहली पंक्ति भवन की ऊँचाई बताती है—'उल्लिखन्तम् इव अम्बरम्' (आकाश को खुरचता हुआ सा)। दूसरी पंक्ति से दृश्य एकदम बदलता है (Cinematic shift)। भव्य गगनचुंबी भवन के नीचे, हनुमान जी की नजर एक करुण आकृति पर पड़ती है। 'मलिन संवीताम्' (मैले वस्त्रों में लिपटी हुई) और 'राक्षसीभिः समावृताम्' (राक्षसियों से घिरी हुई)। यहाँ 'विमल' (स्वच्छ भवन) और 'मलिन' (मैले वस्त्र) का विरोधाभास (contrast) सीता जी की दयनीय स्थिति को उभारता है।
