यथा रूपा हि दृष्टा वै तथा रूपा इयम् अन्गना ।
पूर्ण चन्द्र आननाम् सुभ्रूम् चारु वृत्त पयो धराम् ॥५-१५-२८॥
yathā rūpā hi dṛṣṭā vai tathā rūpā iyam anganā । pūrṇa candra ānanām subhrūm cāru vṛtta payo dharām ॥ ॥5-15-28॥
Translation
This woman possesses the exact same form as the one seen before; having a face like the full moon, beautiful eyebrows, and graceful, rounded breasts.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिस रूप वाली वह (अपहरण के समय) देखी गई थी, यह स्त्री ठीक वैसी ही रूप वाली है। पूर्ण चंद्रमा के समान मुख वाली, सुंदर भौहों वाली और सुंदर गोल स्तनों वाली।
English Commentary
Valmiki describes Sita’s physical attributes to confirm identity. Despite the harrowing conditions of her captivity, her fundamental beauty remains unaltered. The comparison of her face to the "full moon" denotes not just luminosity but a soothing, pleasant quality that persists even in grief. This verse serves as the physical validation of Hanuman’s inference—the features he noted during the abduction match perfectly with the woman sitting in the Ashoka Vatika.

यहाँ महर्षि वाल्मीकि सीता जी के सौंदर्य का वर्णन हनुमान जी की दृष्टि से कर रहे हैं। यद्यपि सीता जी शोक में मग्न हैं, तथापि उनके नैसर्गिक अंग-सौष्ठव में कोई कमी नहीं आई है। 'पूर्ण चन्द्र आननाम्' केवल सुंदरता का ही नहीं, बल्कि शीतलता और आह्लाद का भी प्रतीक है। 'यथा रूपा हि दृष्टा' यह सिद्ध करता है कि हनुमान जी की स्मरण शक्ति कितनी तीव्र है; उन्होंने आकाश में उड़ते हुए जिस छवि को क्षण भर के लिए देखा था, वह उनके मन में अंकित है।
