राम उपरोध व्यथिताम् रक्षो हरण कर्शिताम् ।
अबलाम् मृग शाव अक्षीम् वीक्षमाणाम् ततः ततः ॥५-१५-३५॥
rāma uparodha vyathitām rakṣo haraṇa karśitām । abalām mṛga śāva akṣīm vīkṣamāṇām tataḥ tataḥ ॥ ॥5-15-35॥
Translation
She was distressed by the obstruction of (separation from) Rama, emaciated due to the abduction by the demon. That helpless woman with eyes like a fawn was looking here and there.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जो राम के विछोह (रुकावट) से व्यथित थीं, राक्षस द्वारा हरण किए जाने से कृश (कमजोर) हो गई थीं। वह अबला, हिरणी के समान नेत्रों वाली, इधर-उधर देख रही थीं।
English Commentary
This verse captures her physical and psychological trauma. Karśitām indicates she has physically wasted away due to the trauma of abduction (haraṇa). The term abalām (without strength/helpless) contrasts with her spiritual strength, highlighting her situational vulnerability. Her action of "looking here and there" (vīkṣamāṇām tataḥ tataḥ) with the eyes of a frightened fawn vividly portrays her state of constant anxiety and alertness in the enemy camp.
