ताम् समीक्ष्य विशाल अक्षीम् राज पुत्रीम् अनिन्दिताम् ।
तर्कयाम् आस सीता इति कारणैः उपपादयन् ॥५-१५-४०॥
tām samīkṣya viśāla akṣīm rāja putrīm aninditām । tarkayām āsa sītā iti kāraṇaiḥ upapādayan ॥ ॥5-15-40॥
Translation
Observing closely that large-eyed, blameless princess, Hanuman reasoned on logical grounds, establishing that "This is indeed Sita."

उन विशाल नेत्रों वाली, निंदा रहित राजपुत्री (सीता) को अच्छी तरह देखकर, हनुमान जी ने युक्तिसंगत कारणों से तर्क (निश्चय) किया कि 'यह सीता ही हैं'।
English Commentary
Hanuman transitions from doubt to deduction. He observes her closely (samīkṣya) and notes her defining features like her large eyes (viśāla akṣīm). The term aninditām (blameless/faultless) suggests that despite her wretched surroundings, her purity is palpable. The phrase kāraṇaiḥ upapādayan (establishing through causes/reasons) emphasizes his scientific approach—he is building a case based on observable facts rather than mere intuition to confirm that this princess is indeed the one they seek.

हनुमान जी अब अनुमान (inference) से निश्चय की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं। 'विशाल अक्षीम्' (बड़ी आँखों वाली) सीता का एक प्रमुख लक्षण है। 'अनिन्दिताम्' का अर्थ है कि इतनी कष्टप्रद स्थिति में भी उनके चरित्र या आभा में कोई दोष नहीं है। 'कारणैः उपपादयन्' का अर्थ है कि वे भावुकता में नहीं, बल्कि ठोस प्रमाणों (evidence) को जोड़कर निष्कर्ष निकाल रहे हैं। वे अब सीता जी के शारीरिक लक्षणों का मिलान उन सूचनाओं से कर रहे हैं जो उन्हें राम और सुग्रीव से मिली थीं।
