Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
श्यामानि चिर युक्तत्वात् तथा सम्स्थानवन्ति च ।
तानि एव एतानि मन्ये अहम् यानि रामो अन्वकीर्तयत् ॥५-१५-४३॥
śyāmāni cira yuktatvāt tathā samsthānavanti ca । tāni eva etāni manye aham yāni rāmo anvakīrtayat ॥ ॥5-15-43॥
Translation
Due to being worn for a long time, they had become blackened, yet they retained their form. "I consider these to be the very same ones that Rama described," (thought Hanuman).
हिंदी अनुवाद
लंबे समय तक पहने रहने (और मैल जमने) के कारण वे आभूषण काले (श्याम) पड़ गए थे, लेकिन उनका आकार (संस्थान) वैसा ही था। मैं मानता हूँ कि ये वही आभूषण हैं जिनका वर्णन राम ने किया था।
English Commentary
Hanuman acts as a forensic analyst here. He notices that the gold and gems have turned śyāmāni (black/dull) due to cira yuktatvāt (constant wear without cleaning/polishing), reflecting her neglected state. However, the samsthāna (morphology/shape) remains identical to Rama’s description. He discounts the superficial change in color to focus on the immutable form, concluding logically that these are indeed the missing clues.

यह श्लोक सीता जी की दशा और हनुमान जी की तीक्ष्ण बुद्धि दोनों को दर्शाता है। 'श्यामानि' (काले पड़ जाना) दर्शाता है कि सीता जी ने महीनों से न स्नान किया है और न ही प्रसाधन। आभूषणों की चमक खो गई है, जो उनके शोक का प्रतीक है। फिर भी, 'संस्थानवन्ति' (आकृति/design) नहीं बदली है। हनुमान जी चमक से भ्रमित नहीं हुए; उन्होंने संरचना (structure) को पहचाना। यह एक जासूस (spy) की तरह सबूतों की जाँच है।
