इदम् चिर गृहीतत्वाद् वसनम् क्लिष्टवत्तरम् ।
तथा हि नूनम् तद् वर्णम् तथा श्रीमद् यथा इतरत् ॥५-१५-४७॥
idam cira gṛhītatvād vasanam kliṣṭavattaram । tathā hi nūnam tad varṇam tathā śrīmad yathā itarat ॥ ॥5-15-47॥
Translation
This garment is very worn out due to long use; nevertheless, it is certainly of the same color and quality/grandeur as the other one (that was dropped).

यह वस्त्र बहुत समय से पहने रहने के कारण बहुत घिस गया है (मलीन हो गया है)। फिर भी, यह निश्चित रूप से उसी रंग का और वैसा ही शोभायमान (गुणवत्ता वाला) है जैसा वह (गिराया हुआ) दूसरा वस्त्र था।
English Commentary
Hanuman observes the garment she is currently wearing. Though it is kliṣṭavattaram (extremely soiled and worn) due to cira gṛhītatvād (being worn for a long time without change), he identifies the texture and dye. It matches the varṇam (color) and śrīmad (grandeur/quality) of the upper garment dropped in Kishkindha. This confirms it is the matching lower garment to the one the monkeys possess, finalizing the identification.

यह वस्त्र-विज्ञान का अद्भुत विश्लेषण है। सीता जी ने जो साड़ी पहनी है, वह 'क्लिष्टवत्तरम्' (अत्यंत जीर्ण-शीर्ण/मैली) हो गई है। लेकिन हनुमान जी उसकी 'क्वालिटी' को पहचानते हैं। 'तद् वर्णम्' (वही रंग - पीला) और 'श्रीमद्' (वही कांति/मटेरियल)। अर्थात, जो टुकड़ा गिराया गया था और जो पहना हुआ है, दोनों एक ही थान (set) के हैं। यह सूक्ष्म निरीक्षण यह सिद्ध करता है कि सीता ने अपहरण के दिन से वस्त्र नहीं बदले हैं।
