Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रदीप्ताम् इव तत्रस्थो मारुतिः समुदैक्षत ।
निष्पत्र शाखाम् विहगैः क्रियमाणाम् इव असकृत् ॥ ॥५-१५-६॥
pradīptām iva tatrastho mārutiḥ samudaikṣata |
niṣpatra śākhām vihagaiḥ kriyamāṇām iva asakṛt ॥5-15-6॥
Translation
Stationed there, Maruti saw that grove looking as if it were on fire (or glowing). The branches seemed to be made leafless repeatedly by the birds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वहां स्थित मारुति (हनुमान) ने उस वाटिका को (पुष्पों के कारण) प्रदीप्त (जलती हुई/चमकती हुई) सी देखा। पक्षियों के बार-बार बैठने और उड़ने से वृक्षों की शाखाएं पत्र-हीन (बिना पत्तों की) सी प्रतीत हो रही थीं।
English Commentary
The grove appears pradīptām (blazing/illuminated) due to the brilliant flowers mentioned previously. The imagery of niṣpatra śākhām (leafless branches) caused by birds (vihagaiḥ) is dynamic. It suggests that the flocks of birds are so dense and active—landing and taking off repeatedly (asakṛt)—that they either obscure the leaves from view or cause them to fall, leaving only the birds and flowers visible. This conveys a sense of vibrant, chaotic life within the stillness of the trees, observed keenly by Hanuman.

यहाँ कवि ने एक अद्भुत दृश्य बिंब (visual image) रचा है। लाल फूलों के कारण वाटिका 'प्रदीप्ताम्' (जलती हुई/दमकती हुई) लग रही है। 'निष्पत्र शाखाम्' (पत्रहीन शाखा) का अर्थ यहाँ यह है कि या तो पक्षियों की संख्या इतनी अधिक है कि पत्ते ढक गए हैं, या उनके निरंतर उड़ने-बैठने ('असकृत्') की क्रिया से पत्ते झड़ गए हैं, या फिर केवल फूल ही फूल हैं और पत्ते नहीं दिख रहे। यह वाटिका की सघनता (density) और जीवंतता (liveliness) को दर्शाता है। हनुमान जी इस चमकते हुए वन को ऊपर से देख रहे हैं।
