Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पुष्प भार अतिभारैः च स्पृशद्भिर् इव मेदिनीम् ।
कर्णिकारैः कुसुमितैः किम्शुकैः च सुपुष्पितैः ॥ ॥५-१५-८॥
puṣpa bhāra atibhāraiḥ ca spṛśadbhir iva medinīm |
karṇikāraiḥ kusumitaiḥ kimśukaiḥ ca supuṣpitaiḥ ॥5-15-8॥
Translation
(The grove was adorned) with blossoming Karnikara and well-flowered Kimshuka trees that seemed to touch the earth due to the excessive weight of their flowers.

फूलों के अत्यधिक भार से झुककर धरती को छूते हुए से प्रतीत होने वाले कर्णिकार और अच्छी तरह खिले हुए किंशुक (पलाश) के वृक्षों से (वह वाटिका सुशोभित थी)।
English Commentary
The imagery of trees bowing down to touch the earth (spṛśadbhir iva medinīm) due to the atibhāraiḥ (excessive weight) of their bloom signifies extreme fertility and abundance. Specifically, the Karnikara and Kimshuka trees are mentioned. Kimshuka (flame of the forest) flowers are bright orange-red but scentless, often used in literature to symbolize beauty without virtue—perhaps a subtle nod to Ravana’s beautiful but soulless kingdom. The visual is of heavy, low-hanging branches creating a canopy of color.

यहाँ वृक्षों की विनम्रता और समृद्धि का चित्रण है। 'पुष्प भार अतिभारैः' (फूलों के भार के भी अधिक भार से) वृक्ष इतने लद गए हैं कि उनकी शाखाएं 'मेदिनीम्' (धरती) को छू रही हैं। कर्णिकार और किंशुक (पलाश/ढाक) के फूल चटक रंगों (पीले और नारंगी/लाल) के होते हैं। यह वन के रंगीन कैनवास को और विस्तृत करता है। हनुमान जी देख रहे हैं कि यहाँ प्रकृति अपने यौवन के चरम पर है।
