Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सागरः च मया क्रान्तः श्रीमान् नद नदी पतिः ।
अस्या हेतोर् विशाल अक्ष्याः पुरी च इयम् निरीक्षिता ॥५-१६-१२॥
sāgaraḥ ca mayā krāntaḥ śrīmān nada nadī patiḥ |
asyā hetor viśāla akṣyāḥ purī ca iyam nirīkṣitā ॥5-16-12॥
Translation
And it is for the sake of this large-eyed lady that I have crossed the glorious ocean, the lord of rivers and streams, and have explored this city.
हिंदी अनुवाद
इन्हीं विशाल नयनों वाली (सीता) के हेतु मैंने नदियों के स्वामी श्रीमान सागर को पार किया है और इसी कारण इस लंका पुरी का निरीक्षण किया है।
English Commentary
Here, Hanuman attributes his own heroic feats directly to Sita. Crossing the ocean—described majestically as nada nadī patiḥ (lord of rivers and streams)—and infiltrating the fortress of Lanka were acts compelled by her existence. By referring to her as viśāla akṣyāḥ (large-eyed), he evokes her beauty and innocence, contrasting her delicate nature with the rugged, perilous journey he undertook. This verse shows Hanuman’s humility; he does not claim the glory of the leap for himself but views it as a necessity born of her plight. His exploration of Lanka is not for conquest, but solely for discovery on her behalf.

इस श्लोक में हनुमान जी अपनी स्वयं की उपलब्धियों का श्रेय भी माता सीता को ही देते हैं। १०० योजन का समुद्र लांघना और अभेद्य लंका में प्रवेश करना—यह सब 'अस्या हेतोः' (इनके हेतु) ही संभव हुआ। सीता जी के लिए 'विशाल अक्ष्याः' (विशाल नेत्रों वाली) विशेषण का प्रयोग उनके सौंदर्य और उनकी निर्दोषता को दर्शाता है। हनुमान जी को अभिमान नहीं है कि उन्होंने समुद्र पार किया; बल्कि वे इसे सीता के प्रति अपनी सेवा और कर्तव्य का परिणाम मानते हैं। यह उनकी भक्ति और समर्पण भाव को दर्शाता है कि वे अपने पराक्रम का केंद्र भी सीता को ही मानते हैं।
