इयम् सा धर्म शीलस्य जनकस्य महात्मनः ।
सुता मैथिलराजस्य सीता भर्तृदृढ व्रता ॥५-१६-१५॥
iyam sā dharma śīlasya janakasya mahātmanaḥ |
sutā maithilarājasya sītā bhartṛdṛḍha vratā ॥5-16-15॥
Translation
She is the daughter of the high-souled King of Mithila, Janaka, who is possessed of a righteous nature; she is Sita, firm in her vows to her husband.

यह वही सीता हैं जो धर्मपरायण, महात्मा, मिथिला नरेश जनक की पुत्री हैं और जो अपने पति (राम) के प्रति दृढ़ व्रत धारण करने वाली हैं।
English Commentary
Hanuman traces Sita’s lineage to validate her extraordinary character. She is the daughter of Janaka, who is described as dharma śīlasya (one whose nature is righteousness) and mahātmanaḥ (high-souled). The apple does not fall far from the tree; Sita inherits this immense spiritual heritage. The descriptor bhartṛdṛḍha vratā (firm in vows to her husband) is poignant here. Surrounded by temptation and terror in the Ashoka Vatika, her adherence to her vows is not passive; it is an active, steely determination rooted in her upbringing. Hanuman sees her noble birth manifested in her noble resistance.

हनुमान जी सीता की कुलीनता और उनके संस्कारों का स्मरण कर रहे हैं। वे 'जनक' का परिचय 'धर्म शीलस्य' (धर्म जिसका स्वभाव है) कहकर देते हैं। जैसी जड़ (पिता), वैसा ही फल (पुत्री)। सीता की पहचान केवल एक रानी के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि एक 'दृढ़ व्रता' तपस्विनी के रूप में की गई है। अशोक वाटिका के कष्टों के बीच भी उनका यह व्रत—अपने पति के प्रति अनन्य भक्ति—अडिग है। हनुमान जी के लिए यह दर्शन (सीता को देखना) एक तीर्थ के समान है, जहाँ वे उच्च कुल और उच्च आचरण का संगम देख रहे हैं।
