Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स मुहूर्तम् इव ध्यात्वा बाष्प पर्याकुलेक्षणः ।
सीताम् आश्रित्य तेजस्वी हनुमान् विललाप ह ॥५-१६-२॥
sa muhūrtam iva dhyātvā bāṣpa paryākulekṣaṇaḥ । sītām āśritya tejasvī hanumān vilalāpa ha ॥ ॥5-16-2॥
Translation
That glorious Hanuman, reflecting for a moment with eyes filled with tears, lamented with reference to Sita.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह तेजस्वी हनुमान, क्षण भर ध्यान करके और नेत्रों में आँसू भरकर, सीता (की दशा) का आश्रय लेकर (विषय बनाकर) विलाप करने लगे।
English Commentary
A moving image of the mighty warrior weeping. Tejasvī (brilliant/energetic) serves as a contrast to his tears, suggesting that true strength includes the capacity for deep compassion (Karuna). He meditated (dhyātvā) on the situation, and the reality of the Mother of the Universe suffering in dirt and grime moved him to tears. His lamentation is not of despair, but of profound empathy.
हिंदी टीका
हनुमान जी 'वज्रांग' (वज्र जैसे शरीर वाले) हैं, फिर भी उनकी आँखों में आँसू हैं ('बाष्प पर्याकुलेक्षणः')। यह उनकी 'कोमल मति' का परिचय है। 'तेजस्वी' विशेषण यहाँ इसलिए दिया गया है क्योंकि दूसरों के दुःख में रोना कमजोरी नहीं, बल्कि महानता (तेज) का लक्षण है। वे सीता जी के कष्टों को देखकर द्रवित हो उठे और विलाप करने लगे।
