Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मान्या गुरु विनीतस्य लक्ष्मणस्य गुरु प्रिया ।
यदि सीता अपि दुह्ख आर्ता कालो हि दुरतिक्रमः ॥५-१६-३॥
mānyā guru vinītasya lakṣmaṇasya guru priyā । yadi sītā api duhkha ārtā kālo hi duratikramaḥ ॥ ॥5-16-3॥
Translation
She who is revered by Lakshmana (who is humble before elders), and who is dear to the Guru (Rama); if even Sita is tormented by grief, then indeed Time/Destiny is insurmountable.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जो गुरुजनों के प्रति विनम्र रहने वाले लक्ष्मण की माननीया (पूजनीया) हैं, और जो गुरु (राम) की प्रिया हैं; यदि ऐसी सीता भी दुःख से पीड़ित हैं, तो निश्चय ही काल (समय/प्रारब्ध) को पार करना कठिन है।
English Commentary
This verse contains a philosophical aphorism: Kālo hi duratikramaḥ (Time/Destiny is hard to overstep). Hanuman reasons that if someone as protected and virtuous as Sita—revered even by the disciplined Lakshmana and loved by the Supreme Rama—can suffer, then Destiny is truly all-powerful and impartial. It reflects the Stoic acceptance of life's vicissitudes found in Vedic thought.

हनुमान जी यहाँ 'काल' (Time/Destiny) की प्रबलता का सिद्धांत प्रतिपादित करते हैं। लक्ष्मण जैसे संयमी और राम जैसे समर्थ जिसके रक्षक हों, और जो स्वयं साक्षात् धर्म हो, यदि उसे भी दुःख भोगना पड़ रहा है, तो सामान्य मनुष्य की क्या बिसात? 'कालो हि दुरतिक्रमः' (काल का उल्लंघन नहीं किया जा सकता)—यह भारतीय दर्शन का एक प्रमुख सत्य है। यहाँ लक्ष्मण के लिए 'गुरु विनीतस्य' (बड़ों का आदर करने वाले) विशेषण का प्रयोग बहुत सार्थक है।
