काम भोगैः परित्यक्ता हीना बन्धु जनेन च ।
धारयति आत्मनो देहम् तत् समागम कान्क्षिणी ॥५-१६-२४॥
kāma bhogaiḥ parityaktā hīnā bandhu janena ca |
dhārayati ātmano deham tat samāgama kānkṣiṇī ॥5-16-24॥
Translation
Though deprived of distinct pleasures and separated from her kinsfolk, she sustains her body solely desiring a reunion with him.

काम और भोगों से रहित तथा अपने बन्धु-जनों से बिछुड़ी हुई होने पर भी, वे केवल श्री राम के मिलन की आकांक्षा से ही अपने शरीर (प्राणों) को धारण किए हुए हैं।
English Commentary
This verse addresses the existential question: How does she survive? Stripped of all luxuries (kāma bhogaiḥ parityaktā) and isolated from her support system (hīnā bandhu janena), her survival seems miraculous. Hanuman identifies the anchor holding her to life: tat samāgama kānkṣiṇī (desiring union with him). It is this single-pointed hope of reunion that compels her to 'sustain her body' (dhārayati ātmano deham). It illustrates the psychological concept that deep purpose or love can endure extreme physical and emotional deprivation.

यह श्लोक उस प्रश्न का उत्तर देता है कि "इतने कष्टों के बाद भी सीता जीवित कैसे हैं?" हनुमान जी निदान करते हैं कि उनके जीवित रहने का एकमात्र कारण 'तत् समागम कान्क्षिणी' (राम से मिलन की आशा/आकांक्षा) है। उन्होंने समस्त 'काम भोगैः' (सुख-सुविधाओं) का त्याग कर दिया है और स्वजनों से 'हीना' (दूर) हैं। सामान्यतः ऐसी स्थिति में व्यक्ति प्राण त्याग देता है, किन्तु सीता का प्रेम इतना प्रबल है कि वह मृत्यु को भी रोके हुए है। यह 'आशा बन्ध' (आशा का बंधन) है जो विरह में भी प्राणों की रक्षा करता है।
