दुष्करम् कुरुते रामो हीनो यद् अनया प्रभुः ।
धारयति आत्मनो देहम् न दुह्खेन अवसीदति ॥५-१६-२७॥
duṣkaram kurute rāmo hīno yad anayā prabhuḥ |
dhārayati ātmano deham na duḥkhena avasīdati ॥5-16-27॥
Translation
Lord Rama performs an exceedingly difficult deed, in that, bereft of her, he still sustains his body and does not sink under sorrow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
प्रभु श्री राम अत्यंत दुष्कर (कठिन) कार्य कर रहे हैं, जो इनके (सीता के) बिना रहते हुए भी अपने प्राण धारण किए हुए हैं और दुख से नष्ट नहीं हो रहे हैं।
English Commentary
Hanuman shifts his empathy to Rama. He acknowledges that Rama is performing a duṣkaram (incredibly difficult) feat by simply staying alive without Sita. The phrasing na duḥkhena avasīdati (does not sink/perish from grief) suggests that the weight of this sorrow is enough to crush a soul, yet Rama bears it. This validates Sita’s worth—she is so integral to Rama that his survival in her absence is seen as a heroic act of fortitude, likely sustained only by the duty to rescue her.

प्रायः लोग वियोग में जो पीछे रह जाता है, उसकी पीड़ा कम आंकते हैं, लेकिन हनुमान जी यहाँ राम की सहनशक्ति की प्रशंसा कर रहे हैं। सीता जैसी पत्नी के बिना जीवित रहना 'दुष्करम्' (असंभव जैसा कठिन) कार्य है। हनुमान जी को आश्चर्य है कि राम का शरीर दुख के भार से 'न अवसीदति' (दबता/नष्ट नहीं होता)। यह राम के धैर्य और कर्तव्य-निष्ठा का प्रमाण है। हनुमान जी सीता के महत्व को राम के अस्तित्व के लिए अनिवार्य मानते हैं, इसलिए राम का जीवित रहना उन्हें एक चमत्कार प्रतीत होता है।
