तुल्य शील वयो वृत्ताम् तुल्य अभिजन लक्षणाम् ।
राघवो अर्हति वैदेहीम् तम् च इयम् असित ईक्षणा ॥५-१६-५॥
tulya śīla vayo vṛttām tulya abhijana lakṣaṇām । rāghavo arhati vaidehīm tam ca iyam asita īkṣaṇā ॥ ॥5-16-5॥
Translation
Raghava deserves Vaidehi, and this black-eyed lady deserves him; for they are equal in character, age, and conduct, and equal in lineage and auspicious marks.

राघव (राम) वैदेही (सीता) के योग्य हैं और यह काले नेत्रों वाली (सीता) उनके योग्य हैं; क्योंकि दोनों शील (चरित्र), अवस्था (आयु) और आचरण में समान हैं, तथा दोनों के कुल (अभिजन) और शारीरिक लक्षण भी समान (उत्तम) हैं।
English Commentary
Hanuman lists the parameters of their perfect match. They are equals (Tulya) in Śīla (disposition), Vaya (age), Vṛtta (conduct), Abhijana (aristocracy/lineage), and Lakṣaṇa (auspicious marks). This establishes that their union is not accidental but cosmically ordained. The reciprocity is emphasized: Rama deserves her as much as she deserves him. It is a meeting of equals in every plane of existence.

यह श्लोक 'दाम्पत्य' की वैदिक अवधारणा है—'साम्य' (Equality). हनुमान जी सात पैमानों पर उनकी तुलना करते हैं: शील, वय (आयु), वृत्त (आचरण), अभिजन (कुल), और लक्षण। यह 'मेड फॉर ईच अदर' (Made for each other) का शास्त्रीय रूप है। 'अर्हति' (योग्य होना) शब्द का दो बार प्रयोग यह बताता है कि यह संबंध एकतरफा नहीं, बल्कि परस्पर सम्मान और योग्यता पर आधारित है।
