Translation
She looked like a star fallen from the sky to the earth due to exhausted merit. She was rich in the fame of her character, yet impoverished by the lack of sight of her husband.

वे पुण्य क्षीण होने पर आकाश से धरती पर गिरी हुई तारे के समान लग रही थीं। वे अपने चरित्र और सतीत्व के कारण समृद्ध (धनी) थीं, किंतु पति के दर्शन न होने के कारण दरिद्र (दीन) थीं।
English Commentary
This verse contains profound poetic imagery. Sita is compared to a star fallen to earth (tārām nipatitāmiva), suggesting a divine being forced into a lowly existence. The second half of the verse presents a poignant paradox: she is described as āḍyāṃ (rich/abundant) regarding her reputation and character, yet durgatām (poor/destitute) regarding the sight of her husband. This highlights that while she possesses the supreme wealth of virtue, the absence of Rama renders her spiritually impoverished. It emphasizes that for a devotee, separation from the lord is the ultimate poverty.

यहाँ दो सुंदर उपमाएं (Similes) दी गई हैं। पहली, उन्हें 'टूटे हुए तारे' के समान बताया गया है, जो अपनी उच्च स्थिति से गिर गया है, जो उनके राजमहल से वनवास और अब अशोक वाटिका की स्थिति को दर्शाता है। दूसरी उपमा विरोधाभास अलंकार का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है: वे 'आढ्याम्' (धनी) हैं अपने चरित्र के कारण, लेकिन 'दुर्गताम्' (गरीब/बदहाल) हैं पति-दर्शन के अभाव में। यह पंक्ति सिद्ध करती है कि एक स्त्री के लिए उसका चरित्र ही सबसे बड़ा धन है, फिर भी प्रिय का वियोग उसे दीन बना देता है।
