तं पत्रविटपे लीनः अत्रपुष्पघनावृतह् ।
समीपमिव संक्रान्तं निध्यातुमुपचक्रमे ।

Taṃ patraviṭape līnaḥ atrapuṣpaghanāvṛtaḥ |
Samīpamiva saṃkrāntaṃ nidhyātumupacakrame ॥5-18-25॥
Translation
Hidden within the leafy branches and covered by dense flowers, he (Hanuman) began to observe him closely as he (Ravana) seemed to approach near.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पत्तेदार शाखाओं (पत्रविटपे) में छिपा हुआ और फूलों के झुरमुट से ढका हुआ (पुष्पघनावृतः) हनुमान, अपने समीप आए हुए उस रावण को ध्यानपूर्वक देखने लगा (निध्यातुम् उपचक्रमे)।
English Commentary
The narrative shifts back to the observer, Hanuman. Using his camouflage skills, he remains līnaḥ (merged/hidden) in the foliage and ghanāvṛtaḥ (thickly covered) by flowers. The phrase nidhyātum upacakrame (began to observe/scrutinize) indicates a shift from passive watching to active intelligence gathering. Ravana has come dangerously close (samīpam), increasing the tension. This moment is critical as it sets up the direct witnessing of the interaction between Ravana and Sita, which allows Hanuman to gauge the true nature of the threat and Sita's loyalty.

यह श्लोक हनुमान जी की रणनीतिक स्थिति को दर्शाता है। 'पत्रविटपे लीनः' (पत्तों में विलीन) और 'पुष्पघनावृतः' (घने फूलों से ढका हुआ) उनकी छिपने की कला को उजागर करता है। रावण अब अत्यंत 'समीप' आ गया है, जिससे खतरा बढ़ गया है, लेकिन हनुमान विचलित होने के बजाय 'निध्यातुम्' (ध्यान से देखने/परखने) का निर्णय लेते हैं। यह एक गुप्तचर का प्रमुख गुण है—शत्रु के इतने पास होकर भी अदृश्य बने रहना और धैर्यपूर्वक जानकारी एकत्र करना। यहाँ 'अत्र' शब्द (यदि पाठ में है) स्थान विशेष का संकेत देता है, या यह 'पत्र' का पाठभेद हो सकता है, किन्तु भाव छिपने का ही है।
