रामस्य धनुषः शब्दं श्रोष्यसि त्वं महास्वनम् ।
शतक्रतुविसृष्टस्य निर्घोषमशनेरिव ।

Rāmasya dhanuṣaḥ śabdaṃ śroṣyasi tvaṃ mahāsvanam |
Śatakratuvisṛṣṭasya nirghoṣamaśaneriva ॥5-19-20॥
Translation
"You will hear the great sound of Rama's bow, resembling the thunderous roar of the thunderbolt released by Indra (Shatakratu)."

"तुम शीघ्र ही राम के धनुष का महान शब्द (महास्वनम्) सुनोगे, जो इंद्र (शतक्रतु) द्वारा छोड़े गए वज्र (अशनि) की गर्जना (निर्घोष) के समान होगा।"
English Commentary
Sita concludes this section with auditory imagery. She promises Ravana that he will hear (śroṣyasi) the mahāsvanam (great sound) of Rama's bow. This sound represents imminent justice. It is compared to the nirghoṣa (roar/crash) of the aśani (thunderbolt) hurled by Śatakratu (Indra). In ancient warfare, the twang of a mighty bow was the signal of doom for the enemy. Sita is effectively telling Ravana that the countdown has begun, and the silence of the Ashoka Vatika will soon be shattered by the sound of his retribution.

सीता अब रावण को भविष्य का दृश्य (और श्रव्य) अनुभव करा रही हैं। युद्ध का आरंभ 'धनुषः शब्दं' (धनुष की टंकार) से होगा। इस ध्वनि की तुलना 'अशनेरिव' (वज्र के समान) की गई है। 'शतक्रतु' (सौ यज्ञ करने वाले इंद्र) का वज्र सबसे शक्तिशाली माना जाता है। सीता कह रही हैं कि वह टंकार ही रावण के लिए मृत्युघंटा होगी। 'श्रोष्यसि' (सुनोगे) क्रिया में भविष्य की निश्चितता है—यह 'हो सकता है' नहीं, बल्कि 'होगा'। यह मनोवैज्ञानिक दबाव है, रावण को यह बताने के लिए कि युद्ध अब उसके द्वार पर है।
