न हि गन्धमुपाघ्राया रामलक्ष्मणयोस्त्वया ।
शक्यं सन्दर्शने स्थातुं शुना शार्दूलयोरिव ।

na hi gandhamupāghrāya rāmalakṣmaṇayostvayā । śakyaṃ sandarśane sthātuṃ śunā śārdūlayoriva । । ॥5-19-27॥
Translation
Indeed, just as a dog cannot stand in the presence of tigers after smelling their scent, you too are unable to stand in the presence of Rama and Lakshmana even upon catching their scent.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जैसे बाघों की गंध पाकर कुत्ता उनके सामने नहीं ठहर सकता, वैसे ही राम और लक्ष्मण की गंध पाकर तुम उनके सामने खड़े होने में भी समर्थ नहीं हो।
English Commentary
This represents one of the most stinging insults Sita delivers. She compares the mighty King of Lanka to a dog (shuna) and Rama and Lakshmana to tigers (shardula). The imagery focuses on instinctual fear—just as a dog flees merely at the scent of a tiger, Sita claims Ravana will crumble before he even fights, just by sensing their presence. This strips Ravana of his royal aura, reducing him to a frightened animal in the face of superior predators.

यह रावण के लिए सबसे अपमानजनक उपमाओं में से एक है। सीता जी त्रिलोक विजेता रावण की तुलना 'शुना' (कुत्ते) से और राम-लक्ष्मण की तुलना 'शार्दूल' (बाघ/व्याघ्र) से करती हैं। यह तुलना केवल शक्ति की नहीं, बल्कि प्रकृति और स्वभाव की है। कुत्ता बाघ की गंध मात्र से भाग खड़ा होता है। सीता जी कह रही हैं कि युद्ध तो दूर की बात है, तुम राम के तेज और उपस्थिति ('गन्धम्') को भी सहन नहीं कर पाओगे। यह रावण के झूठे अहंकार को चूर-चूर करने वाला कथन है।
