नाहमौपयिकी भार्या परभार्या सती तव ।
साधु धर्ममवेक्षस्व साधु साधुव्रतं चर ।

Nāhamaupayikī bhāryā parabhāryā satī tava |
Sādhu dharmamavekṣasva sādhu sādhuvrataṃ cara ॥5-19-6॥
Translation
"I am the virtuous wife of another, and thus I am not a suitable wife for you. Look properly towards Dharma (righteousness); practice the vow of the virtuous properly."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"मैं 'परभार्या' (दूसरे की पत्नी) और सती हूँ, अतः मैं तुम्हारे लिए उपयुक्त (औपयिकी) पत्नी नहीं हो सकती। हे रावण! धर्म को भली-भांति देखो (साधु धर्ममवेक्षस्व) और सज्जनों के व्रत (सदाचार) का भली-भांति पालन करो।"
English Commentary
Sita transitions from rejection to instruction. She declares herself an-aupayikī (not fit/suitable) for him purely on legal and moral grounds—she is parabhāryā (another's wife). She urges him to "look at Dharma" (dharmamavekṣaswa). The repetition of sādhu (properly/good/virtuous) emphasizes the need for correct conduct. She is advising the King of Lanka to adopt sādhuvratam (the vow/conduct of good people). Even in extreme peril, she upholds the Aryan code of conduct, trying to elevate the sinner to the path of righteousness.

सीता अब एक गुरु की भूमिका में हैं। वे रावण को समझाती हैं कि वह उनके लिए 'औपयिकी' (उपभोग के योग्य/उचित) नहीं हैं क्योंकि वह 'परभार्या' हैं। यहाँ 'साधु' शब्द का बार-बार प्रयोग (साधु धर्ममवेक्षस्व, साधुव्रतं चर) रावण को झकझोरने के लिए है—कि वह अपनी राक्षसी वृत्ति छोड़े और सज्जनों (साधु) का मार्ग अपनाए। यह सीता की महानता है कि वे अपने अपहरणकर्ता को भी सुधरने का और धर्म के मार्ग पर चलने का उपदेश दे रही हैं।
