पालितां राक्षसेन्द्रेण निर्मितां विश्वकर्मणा ।
प्लवमानामिवाकाशे ददर्श हनुमान् पुरीम् ॥ ॥५-२-२०॥
Pālitāṃ rākṣasendreṇa nirmitāṃ viśvakarmaṇā । Plavamānāmivākāśe dadarśa hanumān purīm ॥ ॥5-2-20॥
Translation
Meaning: Hanuman saw that city, ruled by the King of Rakshasas and built by Vishvakarma, appearing as if it were floating in the sky.

अर्थ: राक्षसों के राजा (रावण) द्वारा पालित और (देवशिल्पी) विश्वकर्मा द्वारा निर्मित, आकाश में तैरती हुई सी उस नगरी को हनुमान ने देखा।
English Commentary
Commentary: This verse attributes the architecture of Lanka to Vishvakarma, the architect of the gods, implying that the city possesses structural perfection and supernatural durability. While its origin is divine, its current custodian is the Rākṣasendra (Lord of Rakshasas). The phrase plavamānāmivākāśe (as if floating in the sky) reinforces the ethereal and imposing nature of the city, suggesting it looms over the world, disconnected from the mundane ground reality.
