मनसेव कृतां लङ्कां निर्मितां विश्वकर्मणा ।
द्वारमुत्तरमासाद्य चिन्तयामास वानरः ॥ ॥५-२-२२॥
Manaseva kṛtāṃ laṅkāṃ nirmitāṃ viśvakarmaṇā । Dvāramuttaramāsādya cintayāmāsa vānaraḥ ॥ ॥5-2-22॥
Translation
Meaning: Reaching the northern gate of Lanka, which was built by Vishvakarma and appeared to be created by the mind (willpower) itself, the monkey (Hanuman) began to reflect.

अर्थ: मन से (संकल्प मात्र से) रची गई सी, विश्वकर्मा द्वारा निर्मित उस लंका के उत्तरी द्वार पर पहुँचकर, वानर (हनुमान) चिंतन करने लगे।
English Commentary
Commentary: The phrase manaseva kṛtāṃ (made as if by the mind) suggests an architectural perfection that transcends manual labor, appearing as a materialized thought. Reaching the Uttara Dwara (Northern Gate), Hanuman shifts from observation to contemplation (cintayāmāsa). The Northern Gate is significant as it often represents the direction of power (Kubera). Standing at this threshold, the enormity of the task hits him, prompting a pause for strategic thought.

टिप्पणी: 'मनसेव कृतां' का अर्थ है कि निर्माण इतना अद्भुत था कि लगता ही नहीं था कि यह हाथों से बनाया गया है, मानो मन की कल्पना ने सीधे भौतिक रूप ले लिया हो। हनुमान जी 'उत्तर द्वार' पर पहुँचते हैं। वास्तुशास्त्र के अनुसार उत्तर दिशा कुबेर की होती है, और यह लंका का प्रमुख या सबसे ऊँचा द्वार प्रतीत होता है। यहाँ पहुँचकर हनुमान की क्रिया 'चिन्तयामास' (सोचने लगे) में बदल जाती है—अब वे केवल दर्शक नहीं, रणनीतिकार हैं।
