दंष्ट्रिभिर्बहुभिः शूरैः शूलपट्टिसपाणिभिः ।
रक्षितां राक्षसैर्घोरैर्गुहामाशीविषैरिव ॥ ॥५-२-२५॥
Daṃṣṭribhirbahubhiḥ śūraiḥ śūlapaṭṭisapāṇibhiḥ । Rakṣitāṃ rākṣasairghorairguhāmāśīviṣairiva ॥ ॥5-2-25॥
Translation
Meaning: Protected by many heroic, terrible Rakshasas with large fangs, holding pikes and Pattishas in their hands, just as a cave is guarded by poisonous serpents.

अर्थ: जो शूल और पट्टिश हाथ में लिए हुए, बड़ी दाढ़ों वाले बहुत से शूरवीर भयानक राक्षसों द्वारा वैसे ही सुरक्षित थी, जैसे जहरीले साँपों से भरी गुफा।
English Commentary
Commentary: The security is described as lethal. The guards are not just soldiers but daṃṣṭribhiḥ (fanged beings) armed with ancient weaponry like paṭṭisa. The simile comparing the city to a guhā (cave) filled with āśīviṣai (venomous snakes) suggests a trap—easy to enter, impossible to exit alive. It underscores the stealth and caution Hanuman must employ; brute force alone is akin to walking into a snake pit.

टिप्पणी: यहाँ प्रहरियों (Guards) का भयावह चित्रण है। 'दंष्ट्रिभिर्' (दाढ़ों वाले) शब्द राक्षसों की हिंसक प्रकृति को दिखाता है। उनके हाथों में 'शूल' और 'पट्टिश' (एक प्रकार का धारदार हथियार) हैं। उपमा 'गुहामाशीविषैरिव' (साँपों से भरी गुफा) बहुत सटीक है; जैसे गुफा में हाथ डालना मृत्यु को निमंत्रण देना है, वैसे ही लंका में प्रवेश करना प्राणघाती है। यह हनुमान के साहस की पृष्ठभूमि तैयार करता है।
