तस्याश्च महतीं गुप्तिं सागरं च निरीक्ष्य सः ।
रावणं च रिपुं घोरं चिन्तयामास वानरः ॥ ॥५-२-२६॥
Tasyāśca mahatīṃ guptiṃ sāgaraṃ ca nirīkṣya saḥ । Rāvaṇaṃ ca ripuṃ ghoraṃ cintayāmāsa vānaraḥ ॥ ॥5-2-26॥
Translation
Meaning: Observing the great fortification of that city and the ocean, and thinking of the terrible enemy Ravana, that monkey became thoughtful.

अर्थ: उस (लंका) की महान सुरक्षा (गुप्ति) को और (विशाल) सागर को देखकर, तथा भयानक शत्रु रावण को (ध्यान में रखकर), वह वानर (हनुमान) विचारमग्न हो गया।
English Commentary
Commentary: Hanuman performs a strategic SWOT analysis. He identifies the threats: the gupti (defensive fortifications), the sāgara (the geographical isolation caused by the ocean), and the ghora ripu (the terrible enemy, Ravana himself). Realizing the magnitude of these combined obstacles, he falls into deep thought. This marks the transition from the journey phase to the infiltration phase, requiring distinct mental faculties.

टिप्पणी: हनुमान जी अब एक सैन्य रणनीतिकार (Military Strategist) की भाँति सोच रहे हैं। वे तीन बाधाओं का आकलन करते हैं: 1. 'महतीं गुप्तिं' (किलेबंदी/सुरक्षा), 2. 'सागरं' (प्राकृतिक बाधा), और 3. 'रावणं' (शत्रु की शक्ति)। इन तीनों के संयोजन ने उन्हें गंभीर चिंतन में डाल दिया। यह क्षण उनके उत्साह और वास्तविकता के बीच के संतुलन का है। 'चिन्तयामास' दर्शाता है कि शारीरिक बल के साथ-साथ बौद्धिक बल भी आवश्यक है।
