आगत्यापीह हरयो भविष्यन्ति निरर्थकाः ।
न हि युद्धेन वै लङ्का शक्या जेतुं सुरैरपि ॥ ॥५-२-२७॥
Āgatyāpīha harayo bhaviṣyanti nirarthakāḥ । Na hi yuddhena vai laṅkā śakyā jetuṃ surairapi ॥ ॥5-2-27॥
Translation
Meaning: (Hanuman thought) Even if the monkeys were to arrive here, they would be rendered useless. Indeed, Lanka cannot be conquered in battle even by the gods.

अर्थ: (हनुमान ने सोचा) वानर यहाँ आकर भी निरर्थक (असफल) होंगे। युद्ध के द्वारा लंका को देवताओं द्वारा भी नहीं जीता जा सकता।
English Commentary
Commentary: A moment of stark realism. Hanuman realizes that a conventional frontal assault by the monkey army might be futile (nirarthakāḥ). The fortifications are so advanced that even suras (gods) cannot breach them through mere yuddha (war). This underscores the necessity of Rama's intervention and perhaps suggests that a victory here requires more than just martial strength—it requires divine power or strategic brilliance.
