चतुर्णामेव हि गतिर्वानराणां महात्मनाम् ।
वालिपुत्रस्य नीलस्य मम राज्ञश्च धीमतः ॥ ॥५-२-३०॥
Caturṇāmeva hi gatirvānarāṇāṃ mahātmanām । Vāliputrasya nīlasya mama rājñaśca dhīmataḥ ॥ ॥5-2-30॥
Translation
Meaning: Indeed, the capacity (to cross the ocean and come here) belongs only to four high-souled monkeys: the son of Vali (Angada), Nila, myself, and the wise King (Sugriva).

अर्थ: (सागर पार कर यहाँ तक आने की) गति (सामर्थ्य) केवल चार महात्मा वानरों में ही है—वालिकुमार (अंगद) में, नील में, मुझमें और बुद्धिमान राजा (सुग्रीव) में।
English Commentary
Commentary: This is a crucial assessment of logistics. Hanuman identifies the limitation of their forces: only four individuals—Angada, Nila, Sugriva, and himself—possess the speed or power (gati) to cross the ocean. This creates a strategic crisis: how to transport the mass army required for a siege? By including himself (mama) matter-of-factly, he acknowledges his own prowess without arrogance, while assessing the few assets Rama has capable of breaching the ocean barrier.

टिप्पणी: हनुमान जी 'एलीट' (विशिष्ट) योद्धाओं की सूची बना रहे हैं। लाखों की सेना में से केवल चार ही इस सागर को पार करने की क्षमता रखते हैं। यह 'बॉटलनेक' (bottleneck) समस्या है—पूरी सेना को यहाँ कैसे लाया जाएगा? 'धीमतः' (बुद्धिमान) विशेषण सुग्रीव के लिए प्रयुक्त है, जो दर्शाता है कि अंततः सुग्रीव की योजना ही काम आएगी। यह श्लोक हनुमान के आत्मविश्वास ('मम' - मुझमें) और अपने नेतृत्व के प्रति आदर को भी दिखाता है।
