Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अनेन रूपेण मया न शक्या रक्षसां पुरी ।
प्रवेष्टुं राक्षसैर्गुप्ता क्रूरैर्बलसमन्वितैः ॥ ॥५-२-३३॥
Anena rūpeṇa mayā na śakyā rakṣasāṃ purī । Praveṣṭuṃ rākṣasairguptā krūrairbalasamanvitaiḥ ॥ ॥5-2-33॥
Translation
(Hanuman thought) It is not possible for me to enter the city of the Rakshasas in this form, guarded as it is by cruel and powerful Rakshasas.

अर्थ: (हनुमान ने सोचा) मेरे इस (विशाल) रूप से राक्षसों की नगरी में प्रवेश करना संभव नहीं है, क्योंकि यह क्रूर और बलवान राक्षसों द्वारा सुरक्षित है।
English Commentary
Hanuman realizes that his current asset—his colossal size used for crossing the ocean—is now a liability. Espionage requires stealth, not spectacle. Acknowledging the guards are krūra (cruel) and strong, he understands that brute force entry would blow his cover immediately. This verse highlights his pragmatic intelligence; he recognizes the need to change his form (rūpa) to suit the environment, a key trait of a master spy.

टिप्पणी: यहाँ हनुमान जी आत्म-समीक्षा (Self-assessment) कर रहे हैं। समुद्र पार करते समय उन्होंने विशाल रूप धारण किया था, किन्तु वह रूप जासूसी के लिए अनुपयुक्त है। 'क्रूरैर्बलसमन्वितैः' (क्रूर और बलवान) रक्षकों की उपस्थिति का अर्थ है कि यदि वे देखे गए, तो संघर्ष होगा और मिशन खतरे में पड़ जाएगा। यह श्लोक सिद्ध करता है कि शारीरिक शक्ति का प्रदर्शन हर जगह उचित नहीं होता; परिस्थिति के अनुसार अनुकूलन (Adaptability) आवश्यक है।
