लक्ष्यालक्ष्येण रूपेण रात्रौ लङ्का पुरी मया ।
प्रवेष्टुं प्राप्तकालं मे कृत्यं साधयितुं महत् ॥ ॥५-२-३५॥
Lakṣyālakṣyeṇa rūpeṇa rātrau laṅkā purī mayā । Praveṣṭuṃ prāptakālaṃ me kṛtyaṃ sādhayituṃ mahat ॥ ॥5-2-35॥
Translation
To accomplish this great task, the appropriate time for me to enter the city of Lanka is at night, in a form that is barely visible (indistinct/small).

अर्थ: इस महान कार्य को सिद्ध करने के लिए, मेरे लिए यही उचित समय है कि मैं रात में ऐसे रूप से लंकापुरी में प्रवेश करूँ जो अलक्षित रहे (मुश्किल से दिखाई दे या छोटा हो)।
English Commentary
The tactical plan is finalized: the timing will be rātrau (at night) and the disguise will be lakṣyālakṣyeṇa rūpeṇa (a form that is barely perceptible, or small and indistinct). Hanuman decides to use his supernatural ability to shrink (Anima siddhi) to minimize his footprint. He reasons that to achieve a mahat kṛtyaṃ (great task), he must adopt a humble, low-profile approach, utilizing the cover of darkness to bypass the security perimeter.

टिप्पणी: रणनीति तय हो गई है: समय—'रात्रि', और रूप—'लक्ष्यालक्ष्येण' (जो दिखाई भी दे और न भी दे, अर्थात बहुत छोटा या धुंधला)। 'महत् कृत्यं' (महान कार्य) की सिद्धि के लिए वे अपने अहंकार और विशाल देह का त्याग कर लघु रूप धारण करने को तैयार हैं। यह श्लोक हनुमान की 'अणिमा' सिद्धि (लघु होने की क्षमता) के उपयोग का संकेत देता है। वे जानते हैं कि अँधेरा उनका मित्र है।
