मयि दृष्टे तु रक्षोभी रामस्य विदितात्मनः ।
भवेद्व्यर्थमिदं कार्यं रावणानर्थमिच्छतः ॥ ॥५-२-४२॥
Mayi dṛṣṭe tu rakṣobhī rāmasya viditātmanaḥ । Bhavedvyarthamidaṃ kāryaṃ rāvaṇānarthamicchataḥ ॥ ॥5-2-42॥
Translation
But if I am seen by the Rakshasas, this work of Rama, who desires the destruction of Ravana, would become useless.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अर्थ: यदि राक्षसों ने मुझे देख लिया, तो रावण का अनर्थ (विनाश) चाहने वाले आत्मज्ञानी राम का यह (सीता-खोज रूपी) कार्य व्यर्थ हो जाएगा।
English Commentary
Hanuman concludes his contemplation with a stark realization: Detection equals failure. Rama wants Ravana's destruction (anartha), but that strategic goal relies entirely on the tactical success of this reconnaissance. If Hanuman is spotted (mayi dṛṣṭe), the element of surprise is lost, and the mission becomes vyartha (useless). This logic solidifies his resolve to adopt a disguise and enter stealthily, setting the stage for the next phase of the Sundara Kanda.

टिप्पणी: हनुमान जी निष्कर्ष निकालते हैं कि 'गोपनीयता' (Secrecy) ही सफलता की कुंजी है। राम का लक्ष्य रावण का विनाश है ('रावणानर्थमिच्छतः'), लेकिन वह तभी संभव है जब सीता मिलें। यदि हनुमान पकड़े गए, तो रावण सतर्क हो जाएगा और शायद सीता को मार दे या हटा दे। इसलिए, 'मयि दृष्टे' (मेरे देखे जाने पर) सब कुछ व्यर्थ है। यह भय नहीं, बल्कि सावधानी है। इसी विचार के साथ वे सूक्ष्म रूप धरने का अंतिम निर्णय लेते हैं।
