Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तु वीर्यवतां श्रेष्ठः प्लवतामपि चोत्तमः ।
जगाम वेगवान् लङ्कां लङ्घयित्वा महोदधिम् ॥ ॥५-२-५॥
sa tu vīryavatāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ plavatāmapi cottamaḥ । jagāma vegavān laṅkāṃ laṅghayitvā mahodadhim ॥ ॥5-2-5॥
Translation
That best among the valiant and supreme among those who leap/fly, having crossed the great ocean, the swift one proceeded towards Lanka.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वीरों में श्रेष्ठ और तैरने (या उड़ने) वालों में उत्तम, वह वेगवान हनुमान महासागर को लांघकर अब लंका की ओर (नगर के भीतर) चले।
English Commentary
This verse acts as a narrative bridge. Having successfully completed the Laṅghayitvā (crossing over) of the ocean, Hanuman transitions to the next phase: approach. He is celebrated as the best of the valiant (Vīryavatāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ) and the best of flyers (Plavatām uttamaḥ), reaffirming his credentials. Vegavān (swiftly) indicates that he does not loiter on the shore; his sense of urgency remains intact as he moves towards the city proper.
हिंदी टीका
यहाँ हनुमान जी के लिए दो विशेषण प्रयुक्त हैं—'वीर्यवतां श्रेष्ठः' (शक्तिशालियों में श्रेष्ठ) और 'प्लवतामपि चोत्तमः' (उड़ने/कूदने वालों में उत्तम)। महासागर पार करना 'प्लवताम्' गुण था, और बाधाओं को हटाना 'वीर्य' था। अब 'जगाम लङ्कां' (लंका की ओर चले) का अर्थ है कि वे तटीय क्षेत्र से निकलकर मुख्य नगर की ओर बढ़े। यहाँ से कथा का 'एक्शन' परिवेश (Environment) से हटकर 'नगर-प्रवेश' (City infiltration) की ओर मुड़ता है।
