ओष्ठप्रकारैरपरा नेत्रवक्त्रैस्तथापराः ।
सीतामाश्वासयामासुस्तर्जितां तेन रक्षसा ।

oṣṭhaprakārair aparā netravaktrais tathāparāḥ । sītām āśvāsayām āsuḥ tarjitāṃ tena rakṣasā । । ॥5-20-11॥
Translation
Some consoled Sita, who was frightened by that Rakshasa, with movements of their lips, and others with expressions of their eyes and faces.

उस राक्षस द्वारा धमकाई गई सीता को, कुछ कन्याओं ने होठों के संकेतों से, और कुछ ने आँखों और मुख के भावों से सांत्वना दी।
English Commentary
A touching display of silent solidarity. Since speaking out against Ravana would likely mean death, the other captive women communicate with Sita covertly. Using oṣṭhaprakāraiḥ (movements of lips) and netravaktrais (eyes and facial expressions), they try to reassure (āśvāsayām āsuḥ) the terrified Sita. This detail adds deep emotional texture to the scene, showing that even in the heart of darkness, there is a community of support, however silent and fearful it may be.

यह अत्यंत मार्मिक और सिनेमाई विवरण है। रावण के भय से कोई बोल नहीं सकता, इसलिए अन्य बंदी स्त्रियाँ 'मूक भाषा' (Non-verbal communication) का प्रयोग कर रही हैं। 'ओष्ठप्रकारैः' (होठों की फड़कन/संकेत) और 'नेत्रवक्त्रैः' (आँख और चेहरे के भाव) से वे सीता को कह रही हैं—"डरो मत, हम तुम्हारे साथ हैं" या "हिम्मत रखो"। यह मौन एकजुटता (Silent Solidarity) सीता को संबल प्रदान करती है। वाल्मीकि ने यहाँ स्त्रियों की आपसी समझ और करुणा का सुंदर चित्रण किया है।
