नापहर्तुमहं शक्या तस्य रामस्य धीमतः ।
विधिस्तव वधार्थाय विहितो नात्र संशयः ।

nāpahartumahaṃ śakyā tasya rāmasya dhīmataḥ |
vidhistava vadhārthāya vihito nātra saṃśayaḥ ॥5-20-21॥
Translation
Being belonging to that wise Rama, I cannot truly be abducted. Without a doubt, this has been ordained by destiny solely for your destruction.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस बुद्धिमान राम की पत्नी होने के नाते, मेरा अपहरण (वास्तव में) नहीं किया जा सकता था। इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है कि यह विधाता ने तुम्हारे वध के लिए ही रचा है।
English Commentary
Sita reframes the abduction not as Ravana's victory, but as the mechanism of his inevitable defeat. She asserts that she cannot truly be stolen, implying her spirit and loyalty remain untouched. She interprets the event through the lens of Vidhi (destiny/cosmic law), stating that the abduction was ordained solely to create a valid cause for Ravana's death. This verse highlights the theme of karma; Ravana has brought his own executioner (in the form of his sin regarding Sita) into his home.
हिंदी टीका
सीता जी यहाँ एक दार्शनिक और भविष्यदर्शी बात कहती हैं। भौतिक रूप से भले ही रावण उन्हें लंका ले आया हो, पर सतीत्व के स्तर पर उनका हरण असंभव है। वह कहती हैं कि यह घटनाक्रम 'विधि' (भाग्य/ईश्वर) द्वारा नियोजित है ताकि रावण का वध सुनिश्चित हो सके। यदि रावण सीता का स्पर्श न करता, तो उसका अंत शायद इतना निकट न होता। सीता यहाँ स्वयं को रावण के विनाश का 'निमित्त' (कारण) बताती हैं। यह रावण के लिए चेतावनी है कि जिसे वह अपनी 'प्राप्ति' समझ रहा है, वह वास्तव में उसकी 'मृत्यु' है।
