अनयेनाभिसम्पन्नमर्थहीनमनुव्रते ।
नाशयाम्यहमद्य त्वां सूर्यः सन्ध्यामिवौजसा ।

anayenābhisampannamarthahīnamanuvrate |
nāśayāmyahamadya tvāṃ sūryaḥ sandhyāmivaujasā ॥5-20-29॥
Translation
O you who follow one possessed of misfortune and devoid of wealth! I shall destroy you today with my power, just as the sun destroys the twilight.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(तुम) जो उस नीतिहीन और धनहीन (राम) का अनुसरण कर रही हो, मैं आज तुम्हें उसी प्रकार नष्ट कर दूँगा जैसे सूर्य अपने तेज से सन्ध्या को नष्ट कर देता है।
English Commentary
Ravana attacks the very basis of Sita’s loyalty—Rama. He characterizes Rama as unfortunate (anayena abhisampannam) and destitute (arthahinam), projecting his own materialistic values onto Sita’s spiritual choice. The simile of the sun destroying the twilight (sandhya) is ominous. Twilight is a delicate, transitional phase that cannot withstand the fierce heat of the full sun. Ravana views himself as the blazing sun and Sita as the fragile twilight, asserting his capability to obliterate her existence instantly if she does not yield.
हिंदी टीका
रावण राम को 'अनयेन अभिसम्पन्नम्' (दुर्भाग्य या अनीति से युक्त) और 'अर्थहीनम्' (दरिद्र) कहकर अपमानित करता है। उसे लगता है कि राज्य छिन जाने के बाद राम का कोई अस्तित्व नहीं है। वह सीता को मृत्युदंड की धमकी देता है। यहाँ 'सूर्यः सन्ध्यामिव' (जैसे सूर्य सन्ध्या को) की उपमा अत्यंत प्रभावशाली है। सन्ध्या का अस्तित्व सूर्य के उदय या अस्त होने पर मिट जाता है; उसी प्रकार रावण अपने 'ओज' (तेज/शक्ति) से सीता के जीवन को समाप्त करने का दावा कर रहा है। यह रावण के चरम अहंकार और निष्ठुरता का परिचायक है।
