प्रियां बहुमतां भार्यां त्यक्त्वा राजा महाबलः ।
सर्वासां च महाभागां त्वामुपैष्यति रावणः ।

priyāṃ bahumatāṃ bhāryāṃ tyaktvā rājā mahābalaḥ |
sarvāsāṃ ca mahābhāgāṃ tvāmupaiṣyati rāvaṇaḥ ॥5-21-12॥
Translation
"Leaving his beloved and highly engaged wife, the mighty King Ravana will come to you, and you will be the most fortunate of all."

"महाबली राजा रावण अपनी प्रिय और अत्यधिक सम्मानित पत्नी (मन्दोदरी आदि) को छोड़कर, तुमको प्राप्त होंगे, और तुम उन सबमें सबसे अधिक भाग्यशालिनी होगी।"
English Commentary
This verse reveals the moral depravity of the proposal. The Rakshasis offer Sita the position of chief queen by claiming Ravana would abandon his current favorite (presumably Mandodari) for her. While intended as flattery to show the extent of Ravana's infatuation, it actually highlights his fickleness and lack of Dharma. To a chaste and empathetic woman like Sita, the idea of destroying another woman's marriage is abhorrent, yet the Rakshasis present this betrayal as a supreme compliment and a stroke of great fortune ('mahābhāgāṃ') for her.

यहाँ राक्षसियाँ प्रलोभन की पराकाष्ठा पर हैं। वे दावा करती हैं कि रावण अपनी पटरानी (जो 'बहुमतां' यानी बहुत सम्मानित है, संभवतः मन्दोदरी) को भी त्यागने को तैयार है। नैतिक दृष्टि से यह रावण के चरित्र का दोष है—अपनी पत्नियों के प्रति निष्ठाहीनता—किंतु राक्षसियाँ इसे सीता के लिए एक 'सम्मान' के रूप में प्रस्तुत कर रही हैं। वे इसे सीता के सौंदर्य की विजय बताकर उनके अहंकार को तुष्ट करना चाहती हैं। यह सीता के लिए अत्यंत पीड़ादायक है क्योंकि वह एक पतिव्रता हैं और किसी अन्य का घर उजाड़कर अपना घर बसाना उनके संस्कारों के विरुद्ध है।
