समृद्धं स्त्रीसहस्रेण नानारत्नोपशोभितम् ।
अन्तःपुरं समुत्सृज्य त्वामुपैष्यति रावणः ।

samṛddhaṃ strīsahasreṇa nānāratnopaśobhitam |
antaḥpuraṃ samutsṛjya tvāmupaiṣyati rāvaṇaḥ ॥5-21-13॥
Translation
"Abandoning his inner apartment (harem), rich with thousands of women and adorned with various gems, Ravana will come to you alone."

"हजारों स्त्रियों से भरे हुए और नाना प्रकार के रत्नों से सुशोभित अपने अन्तःपुर को छोड़कर, रावण तुम्हारे पास आएगा (तुम्हें ही भजेगा)।"
English Commentary
The temptation continues with a focus on material wealth and exclusivity. The mention of a harem with 'thousands of women' serves two purposes: to show Ravana's immense status and to emphasize the uniqueness of his offer to Sita—that he would forsake all of them for her. They dangle the 'gems' and luxury of the inner palace before Sita, trying to lure her away from her ascetic austerity. They fail to grasp that Sita, who voluntarily chose exile with Rama, has no thirst for the material opulence they are advertising.

पिछले श्लोक की बात को ही आगे बढ़ाते हुए, यहाँ रावण के ऐश्वर्य का वर्णन है। 'स्त्रीसहस्रेण' (हजारों स्त्रियों वाला) रावण की कामुकता का परिचायक है, पर राक्षसियाँ इसे उसकी महानता मानती हैं। वे कह रही हैं कि रावण उस विशाल भोग-विलास को त्यागकर केवल सीता का हो जाएगा। 'नानारत्नोपशोभितम्' बताता है कि वहां भौतिक सुखों की कोई कमी नहीं है। यह सीता के तपस्वी जीवन (अशोक वाटिका में) और रावण के राजसी भोग के बीच का द्वंद्व है। राक्षसियाँ मानती हैं कि कोई भी स्त्री इस वैभव के लिए लालायित हो जाएगी।
